Dr. Michael Hack

Biography
Dr. Michael Hack, is Vice-President of Business Development at Universal Display Corporation. He is responsible for developing and commercializing advanced high efficiency next generation OLED products, with a special focus on flexible display applications and solid-state lighting.  Prior to joining UDC in 1999, he was associated with dpiX, a Xerox Company, where he was responsible for manufacturing flat panel displays and digital medical imaging products based on amorphous silicon TFT technology.   Dr. Hack received his Ph. D. degree from Cambridge University, England in 1981 and in 2007 Dr. Hack was elected a Fellow of the Society for Information Display. In 2014 Dr. Hack was nominated to serve on the board of the U.S. OLED Lighting Coalition to promote the advancement and commercialization of OLED lighting.

Biography
Hitoshi Kuma joined Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. in 1990 after graduating from Kyoto University with a master degree in Physical Engineeringin the field of plasma physics. After the research of ferroelectric liquid crystal polymer (FLCP) materials and panels with using FLCP for ten years, he has been engaged in the development of OLED materials since 2000. His major is optical and electronic property of organic materials and physical analysis of electro-optical devices. He is currently in charge of building medium- to long-term development strategies in the information and communication technologies as a principal associate of the corporate research center of Idemitsu Kosan.

MunPyo Hong received the B.S. and M.S degrees in Nuclear Engineering from Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea, in 1987 and 1989, respectively and the Ph.D. degree in Engineering Physics (Plasma Physics) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1995.
He is currently a Professor with the Division of Display & Semiconductor Physics/ Department of AI Semiconductor Engineering, and a Director of Advanced Material Transfer Evaluation Center (AMTEC), Korea University, and was previously Joint Professor with School of Information & Communication Engineering, Sungkyunkwan University, Korea, from 2000 to 2006, while has engaged with Samsung Electronics D R&D Center (currently Samsung Display) as Principal Engineer/ Group Leader/ Project Manager from 1995 to 2006. His research interests focus on the development of stretchable & wearable display, new plasma process, organic electronic device & gas barrier coating, next generation TFTs and e-skin technology

Dr. Yun-Li (Charles) Li

Dr. Yun-Li (Charles) Li is the CEO and co-founder of PlayNitride. Dr. Li received his Ph.D. degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (USA) in 2003. Dr. Li’s Ph.D. work focused on gallium nitride (GaN) based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and LED-based applications. In 2020, Dr. Li received Special Recognition Award from Society for Information Display (SID). It recognized Dr. Li and his team in development and commercialization of MicroLED technology. It also indicated that MicroLED has been identified as the new generation display technology and key development topic.

ROBERT VISSER

Biography
Robert Visser is the Vice President of Engineering Technology in the Office of the CTO at Applied Materials, Inc. In his role, he is responsible for creating business opportunities in new and adjacent markets related to advanced displays, optical components for augmented reality, ‘flat optics’ (metasurface based optics), co-packaged optics and advanced packaging solutions. He also advises Applied’s chemistry group in India at IIT Mumbai and is looking at the role of new materials in quantum technology to explore new growth opportunities for Applied Materials in quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum sensing.
With almost four decades of experience in the display industry and materials engineering, his contributions have commercialized flat panel display manufacturing and uncovered breakthroughs in areas ranging from photolithography, plasma physics, plasma etching, spectroscopy, organic electronics (TFTs and NLO), and liquid crystal-based optics. Virtually every OLED display made today uses technology elements that he helped pioneer during his career.
Robert received the FlexTech award in 2016 and SID Special Award in 2018 respectively. In 2020 he was recognized by the Society of Information Display (SID) with the Fellows Award for his contributions to the development and commercialization of OLED technology, and specifically to thin film encapsulation solutions. Robert also serves as a member of the SID award committee and program committees for manufacturing, as well as AR/VR/MR topics. In 2023, Robert was elected as a board member of the Materials Research Society (MRS).
He holds a master’s degree in theoretical organic chemistry and physics, and a Ph.D. in physical and organic chemistry, both from Leiden University, Netherlands. He has numerous patents and publications to his name.

Hiroshi Mukawa

Biography
Hiroshi Mukawa is a corporate distinguished engineer at Sony Group Corporation. He has been developing and commercializing AR head-mounted displays. In 2004, he started his research on holographic waveguide technology and commercialized the world’s first closed caption glasses in 2012. He currently serves as an executive committee member of the SPIE ARVRMR conference. He has over 150 patent families related to optics and mechanics in the fields of AR/MR HMDs and optical disc storages. He received his M.E. degree in physical engineering from Kyoto University, his M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University, and a GMBA from Globis Management School.
